A tribute to an icon of culture, place, and the thinking that has the small town America is defined in the 80's. It is a universal time, everything you know to be true starts fading. The story is personal, yet familiar, in a visually stunning landscape of the music and the future prospects of Americana.
Anthony Burns wanted to write Brandon and Heath Freeman and make their first film about East Texas in the early 1980s, when she grew up. The slogan of the film to express what she is trying to capture, "There was a time when life was simple ... a place where they never change." Skateland roller rink is the city where young people gathered and some hang or even back there after graduating from high school. The film focuses on a crowd, where everyone smoked, drank beer and loads of young girls relations. The two main characters are Brent Burkam (Health Freeman) is a little older than the others, who ran unsuccessfully for a few years and cycles back to town to hang out with friends like Ritchie Wheeler (Shiloh Fernandez), on the edge of the high school graduate. He is the deputy director of the ice and can not decide what to do with his life. There are nuances of the young Ron Howard and Richard Dreyfuss, played characters try to figure out their lives in American Graffiti with the 1970s are the decade. Jump forward ten years, and we propose the continuous music of the 80s set the backdrop of the fear of young people, mixed drinks, parties, cars and some violence. Although the story is about the guy, he is an influence on women. younger sister, Mary Ritchie (Romm Haley) and his girlfriend Michelle (Ashley Greene), the strong characters of the film may reflect the women's movement and the actions of Richie mother (Melinda McGraw). If the attitude and lifestyle can not quite the early 80s in the northern part, where our children grew up, this team of young film has created a longer period piece. Photography, setup and management is certainly first class. We look at this film and realize that there is a flight of several players who were outstanding. The film won a Sundance Film Festival in housing that is not an easy task for a low-budget independent film that effort was the first time the director and writer. It has distribution and will end March and early April in New York and Los Angeles to open.
